Who We Are

Howell Contractors, Inc is a diversified underground utility contractors based in Walton, Kentucky.

We continue to serve Kentucky, Ohio, Indiana, Tennessee and Illinois. We have successfully installed over 2,000,000 Lineal Feet of water transmission and distribution mains, sanitary sewers, forced mains and storm drainage. Our installations range in size upward of 72” in diameter and over 100,000 feet in length. We do this every day, every year, getting the job done on time and on budget.

  • We’ve worked with Cincinnati Metropolitan Sewer District for years repairing the local sewers.
  • We’ve worked in adjacent areas and municipalities slip lining new pipe into existing decaying pipe.
  • We’ve replaced and installed water lines with a diversity of pipe materials, using multiple techniques such as directional drilling, pipe bursting and other trenchless technologies.

The common factor in all of this is that we utilize our experienced staff to get the job done right.  We now have two offices (Centerville, Ohio and Walton, Kentucky) to help maintain our business and grow in the southwest Ohio region.  Our engineers work in both offices to direct our plant work division, because, as our motto states, “We believe the road to success is always under construction”.

Their founder, Jimmy Howell, has put a lifetime (Forty years) into developing a comprehensive organization to deal with the rigors of the pipeline industry.  Rooted in the Northern Kentucky culture, where innovation and creativity were paramount to success, Jimmy Howell took the leap and started to bid projects under his newly formed company- Howell Contractors, Inc. That was in 1990.  The first successful bid was completed on time and on budget. The company had found the right tools to succeed.  That first successful project has been repeated many times. Since that successful beginning, we’ve completed projects ranging from small sewer and water lines to large, complex sewer and water installations. Now, years later, we can truly say with all honesty that all that hard work has paid off, as Howell Contractors, Inc. is one of the premier pipeline contractors in the Greater Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky area.

Having contracted with a diverse array of municipalities, Howell Contractors (HCI) has taken that opportunity to build on their collective skills to become a leader in the underground utility business. Expansion and diversification is the essence of our company as we have grown to meet the present and future demands of this industry.
